Marvell Q2 Earnings Highlights
Revenue came in at $2.74 billion, ahead of the consensus estimate of $2.71 billion. Adjusted earnings were 94 cents per share, beating the expected 92 cents. That's a 37% jump in revenue year-over-year, and the growth story is clearly being driven by the company's Data Center portfolio, which saw a 46% increase compared to the same period last year. Cash flow from operations also looked healthy at $605.5 million for the quarter.
CEO Matt Murphy didn't mince words about the momentum: "We are seeing broad-based strength across our Data Center portfolio, including strong demand in Connectivity and a significant acceleration in our Custom business beginning in the second half of fiscal 2027."
Looking ahead, Marvell expects third-quarter revenue of $3.15 billion, plus or minus 5%, which is well above the $3.03 billion analysts were looking for. Adjusted earnings are guided at $1.10 per share, plus or minus five cents, versus the $1.07 estimate. The company also guided for adjusted gross margins in the range of 57.5% to 58.5%, slightly below the 58.9% reported in Q2.
Murphy also hinted that the AI boom is far from over: "AI-related bookings remain exceptionally robust, and we expect our revenue growth to accelerate further through the remainder of fiscal 2027."
Management will discuss the quarter in more detail on an earnings call with investors and analysts at 4:45 p.m. ET.
MRVL Shares Move Lower After Earnings
Despite the beat and raise, shares of Marvell were down 2.94% in after-hours trading, sitting at $234.36 at the time of publication. That might seem odd, but remember: the stock was up roughly 186% year-to-date heading into the print. At some point, even great news can feel like a letdown when expectations are sky-high.
Still, the underlying story here is one of accelerating growth, particularly in AI-related custom silicon and connectivity. For investors, the question isn't whether Marvell is benefiting from the AI wave, but how long the wave can keep building.
