As enterprises rush to adopt artificial intelligence, CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRWD) CEO George Kurtz says they're all running into the same problem: security. Speaking on the company's second quarter earnings call, Kurtz said "every customer" CrowdStrike talks to is concerned about "agentic threats," suggesting that fears over autonomous AI systems are quickly becoming one of the biggest drivers of cybersecurity spending.

CrowdStrike Says AI Security Is Becoming a Prerequisite for AI Adoption
The hidden takeaway from CrowdStrike's latest results wasn't simply that demand for cybersecurity remains strong. It was management's argument that security is increasingly becoming a prerequisite for enterprise AI adoption.
"I think when you look at the durability, it's, in my opinion, it is absolutely there," Kurtz said when asked whether the company's AI-driven momentum could last beyond this year. "What we're hearing from customers is they want to deploy more AI, but they're being held back because of security, compliance, privacy, data protection type issues."
He then made the company's position unmistakably clear. "Every customer that we talk to is concerned about the agentic threats."
Kurtz added that CrowdStrike has already "seen agents go wild" and "seen them break out of the Frontier labs," calling it "a sustainable tailwind" for the business as enterprises deploy increasingly autonomous AI systems.
Why CrowdStrike Thinks 'Agentic Threats' Are a Long-Term Opportunity
Rather than describing AI security as another feature within its platform, CrowdStrike framed it as an entirely new category of enterprise security.
Kurtz argued that if AI continues becoming "more powerful," companies will need new ways to secure not just human users but autonomous software agents acting on their behalf. He reiterated a view he first shared on an earlier earnings call, saying CrowdStrike believes its AI Detection and Response (AIDR) business could eventually become even larger than its core Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) business because each employee could ultimately be working alongside dozens of AI agents.
The company's comments fit neatly with its broader narrative this quarter. CrowdStrike posted record net new annual recurring revenue, raised its full-year outlook again, and credited growing awareness of AI-related risks for accelerating demand across multiple parts of its Falcon platform.
Investment Takeaway
For investors, the most important message wasn't another quarter of strong execution—it was CrowdStrike's argument that AI security demand is being driven by necessity rather than discretionary IT spending.
If enterprises increasingly view agentic AI as too risky to deploy without dedicated security controls, cybersecurity vendors could benefit from a structural spending tailwind that extends well beyond today's AI adoption cycle.
Whether that thesis plays out will depend on how quickly businesses move AI agents from experimentation into production, but management made it clear that it believes this shift has already begun.
